An HSC student has died after falling from a building at Notre Dame College in Dhaka. The victim, identified as 18-year-old Dhrubabrata Das, had gone to the college to collect his admit card for the upcoming HSC exams. He later saw a group of students carrying his son, injured and bleeding. Classmates first took Dhrubabrata to a nearby hospital and then brought him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) around 4:15pm on Monday, where doctors declared him dead. The interim government has banned all activities of the Awami League and its affiliate organisations until trial in the International Crimes Tribunal is complete. The Awami League will now face trial over alleged crimes against humanity for its role in suppressing the July Uprising. So, Monday’s ban notification clears the way for the EC to decide on the registration of the Awami League as well. On Saturday afternoon, they held a mass rally there and raised three demands, including the banning of the Awami League. Later that night, Law Advisor Asif Nazrul announced the decision to ban the Awami League at a press conference.

Based on the findings, the report identifies Sheikh Hasina as the mastermind and superior commander who gave the orders [for the atrocities].”Tajul added that five major allegations were raised in the report. The government issued a gazette notification amending the International Crimes (Tribunal) Act 1973, granting the tribunal the authority to take punitive action against political parties, their affiliates, or supporter groups involved in crimes under international law. According to the gazette, the president has enacted and promulgated the International Crimes (Tribunals) (Second Amendment) Ordinance, 2025 under the powers granted by Article 93(1) of the Constitution, as per a bdnews24.com report. Ordinance issued: Any bank, financial institution can bow be temporarily taken under state ownershipTo rehabilitate bankrupt or at-risk banks, the government and Bangladesh Bank can now temporarily bring any scheduled bank or financial institution under state ownership, according to the Bank Resolution Ordinance, 2025, published in the official gazette on Friday. The Bank Resolution Ordinance, 2025 also allows for the creation of one or more “bridge banks” to ensure uninterrupted operations. A bridge bank is a temporary institution set up by Bangladesh Bank to manage the operations of a failing or bankrupt bank. Bangladesh Bank is empowered to suspend or prohibit all business activities of a financially weak bank. The government and Bangladesh Bank may also temporarily take ownership of any bank or financial institution, including Shariah-based banks.
