A video purporting to show Ghislaine Maxwell, the former girlfriend and accomplice of Jeffrey Epstein, out for a stroll in Quebec City has gained millions of views since it was posted last week. The original poster, a 19-year-old from Quebec City, told CBC News as much and added — albeit retroactively — disclaimer labels flagging the use of AI. They refused to share their name, saying they have received multiple threats since the video went up. The Quebec City video has been shared thousands of times, including by Russian state-owned media outlet RT on its X account, saying it shows a woman in Quebec looking STRIKINGLY similar to Ghislaine Maxwell. In an Instagram story uploaded over the weekend, the video's poster explained that their intent was never to spread misinformation but to make satire content.

A backlog of 233,000 Phoenix cases await processing at the payroll centre, according to the government's latest numbers. Morrison followed his doctor's advice and quit the public service in 2023, after he experienced severe mental health issues stemming from his pay problems. According to the notes from his grievance file, that should have bumped his annual salary from around $58,509 to $74,019, but Phoenix pay errors never allowed him to see that raise. "And that has been the tragedy of trying to recruit the younger generation in the federal public service." LeVasseur said as older workers retire, it's crucial for the public service to understand the younger workforce and what they value.

WASHINGTON — U.S. President Donald Trump's trade czar says if Canada wants a deal with Washington, it will have to accept "some level of higher tariff" and help to reshore American industries. Canada is still being hammered by separate U.S. tariffs on specific industries like steel, aluminum, automobiles, lumber and cabinetry. It also maintains ongoing uncertainty over how the Trump administration will continue to seek leverage over its trading partners. Greer has said the Trump administration is beginning investigations of countries under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974. That section allows a president to take trade actions if the administration concludes a country's policies are unreasonable and discriminatory.

At least 30 people died after heavy rains hit Brazil's southeastern state of Minas Gerais, local authorities said Tuesday, while 39 people were missing. The state fire department confirmed the deaths happened in the cities of Juiz de Fora and Uba, about 110 kilometres apart. But by helping each other, we'll eventually find everyone," said Gabriel Vitor, a 24-year-old firefighter deployed to Juiz de Fora. Rescue workers search for victims among the debris in Juiz de Fora, where Brazil's government declared a state of emergency. Greer suggested Canada should accept some form of tariffs in order to reach a deal with the Trump administration. U.S. President Donald Trump's point man on trade talks says Canada needs to accept that tariffs will be a part of any deal with the administration, including renewal of the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA). In interviews with two CBC News journalists on Capitol Hill just after Trump's state of the union address Tuesday night, U.S. trade representative Jamieson Greer suggested Canada can't expect to land a trade agreement that is free of tariffs. CUSMA is up for review this year, and the Trump administration has already imposed a raft of tariffs on Canadian exports, including on steel, aluminum, softwood lumber and the auto sector. Canada and the U.S. have yet to launch formal talks on the trade deal, although Prime Minister Mark Carney's government has indicated negotiations will start within a few weeks.

Todd Kent, the event's chairperson, said teams are moving a bit slower than projected, and the race is expected to end by mid-day on Friday. Of the 18 teams that started the race in Labrador City on Sunday, only eight remain. Cain's Quest chairperson Todd Kent says racers will likely be held in Churchill Falls on Thursday for the race to end mid-day Friday. Officials are keeping an eye on when teams arrive in Churchill Falls, as it will dictate when the race ultimately ends.

Those included Trump’s reciprocal tariff regime — of which Canada was exempt — and his so-called fentanyl and border tariffs on Canada. Kaitlin Strong's and her husband’s two German shepherds, Hank and Mary Jane, were killed on their property in Belmont, Ont., last February. That's where her German shepherds, Mary Jane and Hank, were shot and killed by a group of coyote hunters, who allegedly trespassed in their backyard. Just a few months after the dogs were shot, Strong remembers another incident where two people got out of a vehicle and began “scoping out” part of her property. Strong said she wants the MNR to enforce stricter and heavier penalties to people who disobey rules. People should be allowed to hunt, but we should also be allowed to have land that we can say we don’t want hunters on."
