If you're lucky enough to have clear skies tonight, you might want to go out and look up, as the northern lights could put on a decent show Monday night. If Earth is in their path, the particles interact with its magnetic field and can create beautiful northern lights, also known as the aurora borealis (or if you’re in the southern hemisphere, aurora australis). The good news for northern lights seekers is that Earth just happened to be in the path of the CME. Unfortunately, this time of year isn't the best time to see northern lights, not because the sun is inactive, but because there tends to be more cloud cover. If you want to know if the aurora borealis is visible in your location, you can download apps like Aurora Alerts and Aurora Forecast.

Bloomberg News is reporting that Mark Carney is considering sending Canadian soldiers to Greenland, in the midst of U.S. President Donald Trump’s continued pressure to acquire the island for U.S. interests. The report made it clear that Canada’s prime minister hasn’t made a decision yet. U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer told Trump on Sunday that the U.S. tariff measure was “wrong.”The plan is to meet in Brussels on Thursday. On Sunday, Carney said Greenland’s future is for Denmark and Greenland to decide, and that he’ll reiterate that message to Trump if they speak about it. Over the weekend, Trump linked his claims on Greenland to not being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, in a letter he sent to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store.

The city has hundreds of electric buses on order, but OC Transpo say supply chain problems have caused a backlog. Typically, OC Transpo cancels one out of every 40 buses, already much worse than its target of one in 200. The problem got so bad that last week that OC Transpo erased hundreds of trips from its schedules and apologized to passengers. Noah Vineberg, president of ATU 279, says OC Transpo gambled too much on electric buses without a Plan B. In his view, OC Transpo gambled too much on electrification and was caught without a backup plan.

Following the death of a 40-year-old woman in Quebec's Montérégie region, two provincial ministers are denouncing the frequency with which women have been killed in the first weeks of 2026. "Behind these numbers, there are lives, families and broken dreams," the statement reads, adding that the provincial government takes the issue of violence against women seriously. Rocha Cruz, a 44-year-old woman, was last seen on Jan. 7 in Quebec City's Sainte-Foy area. Last week, Quebec City police announced that a body had been found in the St. Lawrence River and investigators believed it was Rocha Cruz's. A 43-year-old man from Laval is currently facing charges of assault causing bodily harm in connection with that case.

Claims of systemic problems in HR, toxic work environmentAccording to the statement of claim, Johnston says a colleague in HR referred to an empty office as a crying room early in his tenure, explaining that employees used it to deal with workplace stress. That interaction “set the tone for a workplace culture that tolerated and perpetuated toxicity, discrimination and harassment,” says Johnston. In that context, he alleges he observed systemic problems rather than isolated missteps, reported CBC News. “I think this case exposes the very concerning toxic work culture within our national broadcaster. I’ve never seen anything like that before in any workplace,” Johnston’s lawyer, Kathryn Marshall, told The National Post.
