Egypt’s Cabinet has launched an English-language mobile app as part of its efforts to support the government’s information availability and highlight its various activities. The Head of IDSC added that the contents of the Cabinet’s English-language mobile app are divided into several sections, including a special section for Cabinet news and another for government meetings. In addition, the new app provides an important window for encouraging foreign investment and facilitating business procedures by allowing the possibility of submitting applications within the “Golden License” system. The new app provides a complete guide in English on the conditions for obtaining the “Golden License” and the steps for submitting and reviewing the application online. The app is available for download on the App Store and Google Play.

Four dead after Indian railway officer opens fire on moving train
CNN — An Indian railway security officer opened fire on a moving train in the country’s western Maharashtra state on Monday, killing four people, according to a spokesperson for the Western Railway. The incident occurred on a passenger train traveling from Jaipur to Mumbai around six a.m. local time (8:30 p.m. ET Sunday), the spokesperson told Indian news agency Asian News International on camera. He was arrested by police after he pulled the alarm and jumped off the train, the spokesperson continued. Divisional Railway Manager Neeraj Kumar told reporters that the families are being contacted and compensation would be given to the next of kin.

Three governorates to be excluded from Egypt’s electricity load reduction plan
The Crisis Management Committee has agreed to exclude three governorates from its plan to reduce electrical loads nationwide, during a meeting on Monday at the headquarters of the Egyptian Cabinet in the New Administrative Capital. Cabinet Spokesperson Nader Saad explained that the electrical load reduction plan, which was prepared in coordination between the ministries of Electricity and Petroleum, now excludes the governorates of Matrouh, South Sinai and the Red Sea due to low consumption rates. The plan covers the rest of Egypt’s 24 governorates, he said. According to the Electricity Ministry’s plan, in the event of emergency breakdowns occurring during the day in any area outside the load reduction plan, the ministry will be notified through data from each electricity transmitting company. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced in a press conference last week measures to deal with the reduction of electricity loads brought on by a searing heat-wave gripping the country.

Beltone inks MoU to acquire Egyptian company engaged in microfinance activities
Beltone Financial signed a memorandum of understanding on Sunday with the objective of acquiring an Egyptian company licensed by the Financial Regulatory Authority to practice mi- crofinance activities. The company in question is Cash for Microfinance, sources close to the matter told Daily News Egypt. According to the memorandum, Beltone will carry out a full due diligence process after obtaining the regulatory approvals that are binding to carry out this due diligence in preparation for completing the potential acquisition, whether directly through Beltone or one of its subsidiaries. The potential acquisition process is linked to the due diligence as well as the regulatory approvals to start the assessment or acquisition; hence all market participants dealing on the Company’s shares must consider that said potential acquisition process may or may not occur. The Company will announce the conclusion of the due diligence process immediately after completing the process and obtaining all applicable regulatory approvals.

2023 is expected to be big year for Egyptian tourism: Travel Off path

Egypt condemns terrorist attack in Pakistan
Egypt has condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist bombing that took place on Sunday in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province in north-western Pakistan, killing and injuring several people. No one has yet claimed responsibility for Sunday’s bombing, which also wounded nearly 200 people. Police said their initial investigation indicated that ISIS’s regional branch may have been behind the attack. The ISIS regional branch is based in neighboring Khorasan Province, Afghanistan and is a rival to the Afghan Taliban. Earlier on Monday funerals were held for the victims of a massive bomb attack on a pro-Taliban cleric, and the government vowed to track down those responsible.

Russia intends to waive visas with African countries
The Russian President’s Special Envoy for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, announced that his country will work on waiving visa with African countries. Bogdanov told reporters, on the sidelines of the Russian-African summit in St. Petersburg: “We will work on the issue of visa abolition with African countries.”He added that the slogan “Russia’s return to Africa” refers its physical, diplomatic and official presence in African countries. Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed earlier that developing relations with Africa is a priority for Russian policy, and renewed Russia’s readiness to contribute to strengthening the sovereignty of the countries of the continent. The second Russian-African summit was held in St. Petersburg on July 27-28.

4th edition of Egyptians Abroad conference largest in number of attendees
CAIRO - 31 July 2023: The Egyptian Ministry of State for Immigration and Egyptians Abroad Affairs will launch the fourth edition of the "Egyptians Abroad" Conference Monday with the participation of about 1,000 people from more than 56 countries around the world, including representatives of 66 community associations of Egyptians abroad. Ambassador Suha Gendy, Minister of Immigration, said that this edition is the largest in number of attendees compared to all the previous three editions of the conference, which reflects the ministry’s efforts reaching them in all countries of the world. She added that the conference is an opportunity to review the requests and needs of the Egyptians abroad, and listen to their suggestions, stressing the keenness to accommodate the largest number of those who registered in line with the capacity of the conference halls. The minister indicated that the conference will be held with the participation of representatives of the concerned ministries and state institutions, to respond to the inquiries and suggestions of the participants from Egyptians abroad, and work on studying and implementing them. The Minister of Immigration said that the "Egyptians Abroad" conference, in its fourth edition, will discuss a number of main axes (the economic axis - the political and educational axis - the social and service axis) via videoconferencing technology, within the framework of the "An Hour with the Minister" initiative.

Egypt prepares for Global Conference on Population, Health, and Development
Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar; held a press conference on Sunday to announce the preparations for the Global Conference on Population, Health and Development, which will be held from 5 to 8 September under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi. The press conference was held in the presence of representatives from the United Nations, international organizations, ambassadors, leaders of the Ministry of Health and Population, and representatives of television channels and local and foreign media. The minister noted that it is expected that the world population may reach about 8.5 billion in 2030 and 9.7 billion in 2050, and more than half of the expected increase in the world population until 2050 is concentrated in eight countries, including Egypt. Abdel Ghaffar said that the national strategy concerned with population issues is up for discussion during the conference and was developed by experts. The strategy also includes studying various countries’ experiences to reach the optimal method that suits Egyptian society.

Egypt's Thanaweya Amma exam results announced with 78.8% success rate
Egypt’s Minister of Education Reda Hegazy announces in a press conference on Monday the exam results of Thanaweya Amma - CabinetCAIRO – 31 July 2023: Egypt’s Minister of Education Reda Hegazy announced in a press conference on Monday the exam results of Thanaweya Amma, the national system for final high school year. Students can appeal the exam results starting Thursday, 3 August, the minister noted. According to the minister, success rate for Thanaweya Amma students this school year 2022/2023 has amounted to 78.8 percent, represented by 598,723 students. No students got the full mark in all tests, Hegazy said, noting that only 2,365 students got grades from 95 percent to less than 100 percent. More than 700,000 students joined tests this year as part of the Thanaweya Amma system in Egypt, according to earlier official data.

Egypt sees hot, humid weather for next 5 days
CAIRO – 31 July 2023: Egypt’s Meteorological Authority said that hot, humid weather will prevail during the coming five days allover Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, and the northern coasts. As for South Sinai and southern Upper Egypt, a very hot weather will be felt along with humid at night in all regions. Areas, with high levels of humidity, will feel increasing in the hot weather. The Meteorological Authority indicated that direct exposure to sunlight increases the feeling of high temperatures, with a noticeable rise in humidity levels during the day, which increases the feeling of hot weather than expected in the shade. Abbas calls for ending Palestinian division, restoring internal unity
The meeting of the general secretaries of the Palestinian factions kicked off on Sunday in New Alamein to discuss Palestinian developments, ways to restore national unity, and ending division, in light of the major challenges facing the Palestinian cause.
