Egyptian Interior Ministry issues new decision on entry fees for foreigners
Egypt’s Interior Ministry on Sunday announced the introduction of a multi-entry visa for foreigners, valid for a period of five years, allowing its holder to reside in the country for a maximum of 90 days in one trip. The ministry indicated in a statement, that the fees imposed on other entry visas, which are currently in force in Egypt, will continue without change. The Official Gazette published the decision of the Interior Minister to amend some provisions of Ministerial Resolution #31 of 1960 regarding visas. According to the decision, the value of the new visa is US$700. The ministry excluded countries that have bilateral or regional agreements with Egypt that include mutual exemptions from visa fees.

Egypt’s Health Minister addresses preparations for holding PHDC 23
Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar; chaired the meeting of the Supreme Committee of the Population, Health and Development Conference (PHDC 23) and its subcommittees. The steps to review the national strategies to be launched during the conference were also discussed, most notably the national health strategy, the national population strategy, and the investment map for health. The minister directed that the national strategy for research be presented for discussion during the conference sessions. Moreover, the minister discussed with the medical committee the pillars of the medical insurance plan for the conference. The plan aims to protect the conference participants from any health symptoms or crises and providing ambulance and emergency services in a timely manner.

Qatar seeks to buy 30% of Egypt’s Hotels Holding at $750mln
The Qatar Investment Authority negotiates over the purchase of a 30% stake of the Holding Company for Tourism and Hotels, sources told Daily News Egypt on Saturday. The company includes 7 hotels: Cairo Marriott, Aswan Cataract, Haram Mena House, Luxor Winter Palace, Alexandria Cecil, Movenpick Aswan, and Elephantine Aswan. The hotels company owned by the Ministry of Public Enterprises, which was included in a holding company between the Sovereign Fund of Egypt and the Ministry, comes within the government offering program that includes 32 companies, which was revealed by the Cabinet at the end of last February. The Qatar Investment Authority is conducting advanced negotiations with the Sovereign Fund of Egypt about several potential deals in the Egyptian market, and Qatar deposited one billion dollars in the Central Bank last year under the balance of deals expected to be implemented. Egypt seeks to enhance direct foreign investment flows during the current period in which the country faces a currency shortage crisis, and seeks to return to the path of the International Monetary Fund program.

Deteriorating situation in Sudan can cause humanitarian disaster, impact neighboring states: Egypt
As a neighboring country to Sudan, Egypt has been keen since the beginning of the conflict to open its borders for those fleeing the conflict, Shoukry said. Egypt has received over 250,000 Sudanese people, representing 60 percent of those who fled the conflict, Shoukry said. This is in addition to 5 million Sudanese people that Egypt has hosting since before the conflict for long decades. Egypt has been keen to provide the Sudanese people fleeing the conflict with basic health and education services, Shoukry noted. Shoukry urged the international community to implement its commitments toward Sudan and provide urgent relief assistance to the Sudanese people.

EiTESAL, GIZ to train 300 people with disabilities, offer them job opportunities
EiTESAL for Information and Communication Technology has announced the launch of a technical training initiative in the field of information technology for persons with disabilities. Hossam Megahed, Chairperson of EiTESAL, said that the organisation cooperated with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) to offer training opportunities for people with disabilities in preparing for employing them in telecommunications and technology companies. About 300 people are trained to improve skills of information technology and other fields required by the labor market. The Minister of Communications praised the technical training initiative in the field of information technology for persons with disabilities. It aims to support research and development, train people with disabilities, qualify them technologically, and make them ready for the labor market.

Egypt forms special working group to identify victims of shipwreck off Greek coast
CAIRO – 19 June 2023: Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has formed a special working group to receive information about the victims of the illegal migration shipwreck off the Geek coast in the Mediterranean Sea. Families of the victims and missing persons can contact the working group to provide information that helps identify the victims, said the Ministry in a statement on Monday. Relatives can meet the working group staff at the headquarters of the Office of Consular Affairs for Citizens, Foreigners and Certifications at 7 Lazoghli Street - Garden City - Isis Building, First Floor – Cairo. On June 13, the IOM said that about 3,800 people lost their lives on migration routes in the MENA region in 2022.

Egypt's Health minister probes preparations for hosting Int'l conference on population

Foreign Ministry organizes visit for Latin America
Assistant Foreign Minister for American affairs Hazem Fahmi accompanied Latin America ambassadors accredited in Egypt on a two-day visit to New Alamein city. The Foreign Ministry organized the visit within the framework of promoting for Egyptian potentials in various domains, especially developing the infrastructure, establishing smart cities and launching giant projects. The Foreign Ministry said on Sunday that ambassadors met with Matrouh Governor Khaled Shoeib who briefed them on the construction of New Alamein city to be a modern and smart city. Ukrainian forces launch 14 air strikes on Russian troop concentration areas
KIEV, June 18 (MENA) - The air force of Ukraine's defense forces launched 14 air strikes on Russian troop concentration areas on Saturday, destroying two anti-aircraft missile systems, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said this in its Sunday morning update, Ukrinform reports. "Over the last 24 hours, [Ukrainian] rocket and artillery units hit three command posts, two personnel concentration areas, five ammunition depots, and three artillery units in firing positions," the military said. In total, over the past day, Russia launched 43 air strikes, 4 missile strikes, and mounted 51 attacks using MLRS against the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas. The probability of missile and air strikes across Ukraine remains high. Russia is concentrating its main efforts on the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka areas, with 26 combat engagements recorded there over the past day.

African delegation meets Putin over initiative to resolve Ukraine crisis
A delegation of the joint African initiative to settle Russian-Ukrainian crisis met on Saturday with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg to present elements of the African initiative. The Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, confirmed that Putin would also hold a bilateral meeting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. According to the South African president, the African plan has 10 main items:– Achieving peace through negotiations through diplomatic means. After meeting with the African delegation, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky stressed his opposition to a freeze of the Ukrainian conflict. Measures could include withdrawing Russian troops, withdrawing tactical nuclear weapons from Belarus, suspending the arrest warrant against Russian President Vladimir Putin and easing sanctions against Russia.
