TWI NEWSBackground:The Kumasi Traditional Council summoned Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), over reported derogatory remarks against the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. The decision was made in response to what the youth described as an “uncalled-for” outburst and an “exhibition of lack of respect for the golden stool” by the Ashanti Regional chairman. A spokesperson for the irate youth, Mr Eugene Oppong, who addressed the press, demanded a public apology from Chairman Wontumi before considering his acceptance back into the Asanteman. Mr Oppong emphasised that Chairman Wontumi’s comments were disrespectful to the Asante Kingdom, particularly the Golden Stool, and warranted an unqualified apology.

The remarkable feat was completed after 227 hours, approximately 9 days and 11 hours. Chef Faila successfully beat her initial target of 120 hours, surpassing the current record. He said the decision was made despite assurances from the medical team and Chef Faila herself that she would be able to go on. Throughout the cook-a-thon attempt, the venue was a go-to place for well-wishers and supporters including celebrities and politicians. Sing-a-thon contender Afua Asantewaa also came by to show her support for Chef Faila.

The widow, in her tribute to her late husband at his state funeral on Friday, January 5, 2024, disclosed her husband’s last wish before his demise. “Rushing back to the hospital, I was met with the unbearable truth: my husband, my love, my everything, had slipped away,” said in her tribute to her late husband. ET Mensah passed on in South Africa at age 77 in October 2023, after battling ill health for some time. He served as a Minister for Youth and Sports and Education and was a Member of Parliament from January 1997 to January 2017. He is survived by a wife and seven children.
