He decided to stop drinking it during the week - as he still wanted to enjoy an occasional Tia Maria and Diet Coke on the weekends. I still missed my Diet Coke, but I wasn't craving it, and I found other ways to satiate my sweet tooth - with fruit! I found I had peaks and troughs before - perhaps the low after the high of the Diet Coke caffeine and fake sugar rush. Whether it was all down to the Diet Coke ban, or a combination of things - the numbers do not lie. I have allowed myself a Diet Coke with food on an occasional meal out (if I'm driving), but other than that, I have ditched it pretty much.

At least five people were Thursday night killed in an accident on the Gilgil-Naivasha road. Police said at least 19 others were injured in the accident which happened in the Kigio area involving three matatus at about 8pm. According to police and witnesses, the incident involved a matatu belonging to Narok Line Services, a matatu belonging to Mau Narok Sacco and another belonging to Ennus Matatu Sacco. Police said one of the vehicles involved in the accident was towing another from Naivasha towards Gilgil before it happened. The injured are undergoing treatment at Naivasha Sub County Hospital.

The University of Nairobi Student Council has prevailed upon MPs who voted Yes for the now impugned Finance Bill, 2024 to apologise to their constituents. In a statement on Friday, UoN Student Council president Rocha Madzao asked the MPs to apologise for going against the wishes of their electorate. “All the Members of Parliament who voted to pass the finance bill should issue an apology to their constituents. “Consequently, having reflected on the continuing conversation around the content of the finance bill of 2024, I will decline to assent to the bill,” Ruto added. The MPs who voted Yes for the Bill clapped in agreement.
