According to the women group, the women of Liberia are prepared to compete with their male counterparts to achieve the 30% of women participation in the Legislature. “What we are experiencing today is the first phase of the “Lapper Revolution or Movement. The Lapper Revolution or Movement is where the women of Liberia have decided that we (women) are coming on strong in terms of political participation,” she said. Also, Madam Mecdella Cooper said, the “Lapper Revolution or Movement” will make sure that the women of Liberia accomplish 50-50 female representation in the Legislature. This Lapper Revolution, we don’t plan to end this until we have accomplished 50-50 female representation in the country.

There will be awareness of health and human rights, counseling and testing for HIV would be conducted throughout the quizzing competition. MONROVIA — GIABA Director General to pay a high-level Advocacy Mission to Liberia in fulfilment of the 33rd GIABA Technical Commission and Plenary directives to engage the Liberian Government on its commitment to the global fight against money laundering and terrorist financing. The delegates are expected to meet President George M. Weah and other High Government Officials. A high-power delegation of the Inter-Governmental Action Group against Money Laundering in West Africa (GIABA) headed by its Director General, members of the Secretariat and some Heads of Financial Intelligence Unit of member states namely: Nigeria, Ghana, and Burkina Faso are expected to visit Liberia from March 29 -31, 2021 for an advocacy mission. This advocacy mission is in fulfilment of the 33rd GIABA Technical Commission and Plenary directives, recommending the specialized body engagement with the political authorities of Liberia. The mission will discuss measures to strengthen Anti –Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing in Liberia, including the second round of Mutual Evaluations of Liberia, the pending legislations to include the Anti-Money Laundering and provisional Remedies of the Proceeds of Crimes Act of 2019, and the Financial Intelligence Agency Act of 2019, among other matters.

Monrovia — The Supreme Court has finally ruled in the controversial December 8, 2020 special senatorial election held in Gbarpolu County. In the ruling, the Court ordered the National Elections Commission (NEC) to announce the final result of the special senatorial election held in the county. “Those entrusted with the authority to investigate election violence must take cue from the mandate of the Constitution which sets timelines for the execution of electoral activities. Madam Kanneh, who had won the highest votes in the county election prior to the stay order, would have been the second female senator in the country. MONROVIA – The Managing Director of the Liberia Civil Aviation Authority (LCAA) Moses Y. Kollies says all efforts are being exerted by his administration to ensure that Liberia gains its status again begin to register aircrafts. This, according to Mr. Kollie, will help the country’s aviation sector restore best practice and uphold its standard. According to Kollie, strives by LCAA to ensure safety and security standards is geared at upholding international practices in keeping with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards. Mr. Kollie explained that in 2006, the institution underwent an ICAO Safety Audit taking into account ICAO standards, which has since prevented the LCAA from registering aircrafts. Paynesville – Marketers and buyers alike are decrying the continuous hike in the prices of basic commodities and are saddened that the government, especially the Ministry of Commerce is not doing much to regulate prices or stabilize the economy. Over the past months, the country has experienced consistent increment in the prices of basic goods and services, including gasoline. A buyer in Redlight market said he has observed hike in the prices of sugar, flour, rice, vegetable oil, onion, among others.
