On Saturday, The Government of Liberia, with funding from the European Union & Government of Sweden through the Youth Rising project, concluded a three (3) days Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) training for 33(thirty three) teachers teaching Math and Science in 11 (eleven) primary high schools across Montserrado. Ms. Sangay Freeman – Director of STEM at the Ministry of Education expressed her thanks and appreciation to the government of Liberia, the European Union and Government of Sweden for their support in the ongoing STEM training. She explained the importance of the training for Primary and high school teachers and how it connects TVET & STEM. Additionally, she joined the minister of education to emphasized the importance of science & TVET and how TVET can contribute to economic growth & self-substance foe youth and other Liberians. For the part of the international consultant conducting the training (PEN) Practical Education Network, they stressed the need for STEM to be more practical and localized as well as using local materials for teaching of STEM and making it locally relevant.

The National Youth Agenda Symposium was organized to develop the youth manifesto for the 2023 presidential and legislative elections. The symposium assembled young people from across the country to deliberate on the issues they consider as priorities for youth development in Liberia. Youth development issues also remain at the bottom of the policy ladder and unattended for the most part. The lack of investment and bold policies for youth development have increased unemployment among Liberian youth, and this is further worsened by a lack of training and educational opportunities. Working groups were established to collate the issues and develop the National Youth Agenda.

Though she has voted in several elections using a manual system, she has never heard about a Biometric Voter Registration. In Liberia, voter registration cards are used for multiple national services including travelling, banking and other activities. With his one leg, he joined the Liberia National Amputee Football team in 2013 and after almost a decade playing amputee football for the red, white and blue, he has signed his first international contract with Bagcilar Amputee Club, Premier Division in Turkey. It is a one-year contract with Bagcilar Amputee Club of premier Division in Turkey. Sebeh plays the midfield role on the Liberia National Amputee football team and the Lasa Amputee Club, a local club in Liberia before moving over to play in Turkey. Sebeh scored one goal and provided four assists in the just-ended 2022 Amputee World CUP that was held in Turkey. Liberia Nation Amputee Team after losing twice in the group stage defeated France 1-0 in the Amputee World Cup to claim the best loser 17th spot position.

The Government of Liberia has indicated zero possibility that the war crimes court will happen. Key amongst the recommendations was the establishment of a War Crimes Court to hold those bearing the greatest responsibility for the gross human rights violations committed during the war accountable. This situation creates a precarious position for the creation of the war crimes court. In January 2018, eighty regional national and international civil society groups issued an open letter calling upon President George Weah to implement the TRC recommendations and establish the war crimes court. The Government of Liberia has indicated zero possibility that the war crimes court will happen.

Charlyne Brumskine has broken her silence, saying she will contest on the ticket of the Collaborating Political Party (CPP) during the 2023 legislative and presidential elections in Grand Bassa’s third district. “We believe that a duty is owed to the people of Grand Bassa County, Partisans of Liberty Party, and the legacy of the Late Cllr. Charles Walker Brumskine to serve the interest of the residents of District 3, Grand Bassa County. Yet once again, the World Bank is busy promoting contradictory actions in Africa. On the one hand, the World Bank says that it is promoting Poverty Reduction but, on the other hand, the World Bank is actually promoting Poverty Generation. On October 19, the World Bank and the European Investment Bank, serving as Co-Organizers of the African Summit on Development Sustainability, talked about the importance of promoting poverty reduction over poverty generation. But the Co-Organizers did not Walk The Poverty Reduction Talk. Essentially, the Co-Organizers focused on the promotion of the colonial mode of production that generates poverty and leads to violence, including coup d'etat and civil war.

MONROVIA – The Paynesville Magisterial Court has issued a Writ of Arrest for Andrew Anderson, Program Manager at the National Investment Commission (NIC) for harassment, domestic violence, disorderly conduct, menacing, and assault. According to the Writ, the complainant, Mrs. Laurie D. Anderson, told the court Mr. Anderson is in the constant habit of beating her. The Writ noted Anderson jumped on her, beat, slapped and wounded her nose, eyes and mouth and left bruises on her. “My daughter Rachel Anderson told me personally that her father told her that he doesn’t want them talking to me, so he seized her phone. But according to unanimous sources from the community where Mr. Anderson resides, he was seen physically abusing Laurie D. Anderson at his house last Thursday, but they didn’t acquire what was actually the cause.
