Economy Minister Hwej approves several private sector investment projects
Mohamed Hwej, Minister of Economy and Trade in the Tripoli-based Libyan government approved 16 investment projects for the private sector in different regions today. They were projects using the Privatization and Investment Board (PIB) investment law. Investment areasRegarding the approved investment projects and their areas and locations, Al-Najah said that the approved projects are specialized in the fields of manufacturing and packing foodstuffs, the building materials industry, tourism investments, the marble industry, the cardboard and paper industry, and the auto glass industry. Investment mapHe said these will be implemented under the supervision and follow-up of the PIB to encourage investment and benefit from the advantages granted to the local and foreign investor. Regarding the approved investment sites, Al-Najah reported that they are distributed in several Libyan cities according to the investment map approved by the Ministry of Economy.

17 Indian youths released from Libya jail, says Sahney
Chandigarh : Rajya Sabha member from Punjab Vikramjit Singh Sahney on Sunday said that 17 Indian youths stranded in Lybia for the last six months have been released from jail in Tripoli. “All of them left India for Italy in February 2023 via Dubai and Egypt. Sahney said when he got to know about these youths in May this year, he contacted the Indian embassy in Tunisia and initiated the legal process for their rescue. Initially, our major concern was to take them out from the captivity of the local mafia,” he added. The Rajya Sabha member said that he will be sponsoring all the legal expenses and flight tickets of these youths for the journey back home and then offer them free of cost skill training.

Europe, Egypt committed to taking measures against human smugglers: EU official
CAIRO - 30 July 2023: EU ambassador in Cairo Christian Berger said Sunday that the pan-European bloc and Egypt are committed to taking measures against human smugglers who put the lives of people in danger. Speaking in a video commemorating the UN World Day against Trafficking in Persons, which falls on July 30, Berger said no country can possibly counter this issue alone. He stressed the need of joint action in this regard, citing the effective partnership between Egypt’s National Coordinating Committee for Combating and Preventing Illegal Migration and Trafficking in Persons (NCCPIMTIP) and EU member states and UN bodies to prevent related tragic incidents. Human trafficking is considered a high-profit business for criminal gangs, Berger noted, putting its estimated annual cost at several billion euros worldwide

New Dutch ambassador to assume duty in Tripoli
Libyan Foreign Minister Najla Mangoush met in Tripoli today with Joost Klarenbeek who submitted his credentials as the Netherlands’ new ambassador in Libya. For his part, Klarenbeek affirmed his willingness to continue efforts to “strengthen relations and cooperation between the two countries and support efforts that seek to establish stability and peace in Libya.”Born in 19 July 1968, Klarenbeek served in his country’s Embassy Council in Croatia from 2003 to 2007. He went on to serve as deputy ambassador in Italy from 2013 to 2018. Since 2019, he served as special envoy for migration in the Dutch foreign ministry. Klarenbeek will replace Dolf Hogewoning who served as ambassador to Libya since October 2021.

Abela taken aback by PN's energy liberalisation proposal, says this would shoot up energy prices

Libya Asks Russia To Help Get Foreign Troops Out Of Country
ST. PETERSBURG (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 29th July, 2023) Chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council Mohamed al-Menfi on Friday appealed to the Russian leadership with a request to help with the withdrawal of all foreign troops from the African country. Putin said in response that it was important to achieve true national unity in Libya so that the country does not turn into a zone of confrontation between third states.
