KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 28): The absence of a letter of good conduct (LOGC) requirement to verify that dependants of participants of the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme are free from criminal misconduct poses a risk to national security. "Besides that, the minimum offshore income of RM10,000 per month has never been reviewed since the MM2H programme was started in 2002. The inconsistent recognition of the health status of MM2H programme applicants invites the risk of spreading dangerous infectious diseases. "Participants' children enjoy eligibility as dependants even though they are over 21 years old due to unbalanced rules," the report said. At the time, he said it would be worthwhile to look into growing our own “local” property tourism (among local investors who live in different states) rather than foreign property tourism. “Sentiment on property tourism may vary as property tourism brings numerous pros and cons. As international tourism improves, so will property tourism.”Nonetheless, from a long-term point of view, the prospects for property tourism in Malaysia are still palpable.

Below is the report on the China property market and Moody’s Analytics viewpoints:New-home prices were up 3.5% in August from a year earlier, the smallest growth since the property market rebounded from the pandemic fallout in June 2020. Property sales contracted in July and August with floor space sold logging an 18% year-over-year decline in August. They strengthened restrictions on bank lending to the real estate sector, prompting some banks to raise mortgage rates. As property sales ebb, the financing pressure on developers has begun to mount, leaving many in a liquidity crunch amid dented property sales, restrained borrowing, and elevated financing costs. Though banks’ direct risk exposure to property developers is under control, the knock-on effects of a teetering property sector on homebuyers and contractors are potentially serious.

This extraordinary output-reducing measure reflects the fact that an extraordinary national disaster like Covid-19 requires extraordinary economic management. One key recommendation from this situation is that a temporary unconventional fiscal policy in 2022 is optimum for addressing the present extraordinary pandemic. Balancing between disaster relief and BBBThe budgetary allocation situation is analogous with one where a decrepit apartment building is on fire. The government budget in 2022 would naturally fund both a disaster relief package and a BBB package. In 2022, the need to be unusually quick in large-scale budget reallocations on the part of the government is evident.

A few days ago, Deputy Education Minister Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon said that primary and secondary school students are allowed to return to school for face-to-face classes regardless of their vaccination status. On the other hand, colleges and universities, with assistance from the Higher Education Ministry, rolled up their sleeves to deny entry for students and staff without jabs. He said that the right of an individual to education is much more important in order to nurture future talent in this country. However, in order for Malaysia to bounce back from the pandemic, the SOPs need to remain consistent across the board to ensure that loopholes can be closed. Although the education sector is under the purview of two different ministers, nevertheless the SOPs being introduced and formulated should be consistent in order to ensure that every student receives quality education and prevent viral outbreaks in educational institutions.
