BURNLEY, England (Reuters) -Martin Odegaard's 30th-minute free kick earned Arsenal their second win of the Premier League season with a 1-0 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday. "We have players who are not at their strength playing in this type of game, but they did their best and we got the win. I’m very proud of them defensively and I’m really pleased with the win. The Clarets thought they had a chance of an equaliser when Vydra went down under a challenge from Arsenal keeper Aaron Ramsdale and referee Anthony Taylor pointed to the spot. I thought we defended very well today and limited Arsenal to very few chances, which is difficult to do," he said.

LIVERPOOL (Reuters) -Liverpool forward Sadio Mane scored his 100th goal for the club to help secure a 3-0 victory over lively Crystal Palace in the Premier League at Anfield on Saturday. Mane turned the ball in from close range just before halftime as he claimed a Premier League record for the most consecutive goals against one club - his ninth in a row versus Palace. Physicality was immense and we had to be ready," Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp told SkySports. Palace also thought they should have had a penalty as Konstantinos Tsimikas appeared to trip Christian Benteke in the box as the former Liverpool forward attempted to reach a cross. He will be sweating over a calf injury for Thiago that forced the midfielder off in the second half, however.

ROME (Reuters) - AS Roma coach Jose Mourinho said that despite his team's spotless start to the season they are not perfect, believing the overall quality of the capital club's football could be better. It is only the third time in the club's history that Roma have won the first six games of any season, but Mourinho is still not completely satisfied. "It would be too easy to say that we were perfect," Mourinho told a news conference ahead of his side's trip to Hellas Verona on Sunday. Verona sacked their manager after just three games of the season this week, with Eusebio Di Francesco replaced by Igor Tudor. "Hellas Verona have zero points but could have come away with something against Inter and Bologna.

VIENTIANE, Sept 18 (Bloomberg): Bats dwelling in limestone caves in northern Laos were found to carry coronaviruses that share a key feature with SARS-CoV-2, moving scientists closer to pinpointing the cause of Covid-19.Researchers at France’s Pasteur Institute and the University of Laos looked for viruses similar to the one that causes Covid among hundreds of horseshoe bats. The BANAL-236 virus has an almost identical receptor binding domain to the pandemic virus, according to the paper. It’s a feature of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that has led some scientists to theorize that it was created in a laboratory. No evidence supporting the lab-leak theory has emerged. The bats live in the limestone karstic terrain common to China, Laos, and Vietnam in the Indochina peninsula. The paper highlights the diversity of SARS-CoV-2-like viruses present in bats in Southeast Asia, Holmes said. "This study emphasizes that bat coronaviruses that have the potential to infect humans readily exist in nature and could emerge any point.

However, he said the actual cost of performing the haj has yet to be decided. Ahmad Marzuk said the possibility of a cost increase was quite reasonable based on the current situation, but believed the subsidy by the government would continue. Ahmad Marzuk, who is also Pengkalan Chepa MP, said the government had allocated between RM400 and RM500mil for the haj subsidy, but now needed to re-look it due to the current situation. "Usually, when the haj season is approaching, the actual costing will be announced and the pilgrims will be informed in advance. The costs related to the haj will be discussed and hopefully will not burden prospective haj pilgrims, he said.
