Tech billionaire Elon Musk said he plans to commit roughly $45 million each month to a new fund backing Donald Trump for US president, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday. The Tesla founder formally endorsed Trump’s candidature for US president on Saturday after the former president survived a shooting at a political rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. “I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery,” Musk wrote on the social media platform X, which he acquired in 2022. In March, the two met in person during a donor breakfast hosted at the Florida residence of billionaire Nelson Peltz. Trump previously decried mail and absentee voting but has backtracked on his criticisms after it became clear Democrats had an edge among mail voters.

This results in a teacher-to-student ratio of well over 50:1, thereby diminishing the effectiveness of the educational system in Nigeria. Salaries in the educational sector do not motivate people to join the sector, having very little prospects for a financially stable future. According to data from Statista, there are about 116,925 elementary schools in Nigeria, out of which 52% are public schools. The Bola Tinubu-led government pledged to enhance the education sector through increased spending but the meager 6% allocation of the budget to education does not reflect that. Nigeria should take inspiration from countries where impactful public education has a long history and tradition, for example Czech Republic.

What I saw and what I felt made me realise that for the Kenyans, social protest was somewhat a culture. So, now that their young ones, the scions of Aluta Kenyans, are on the streets, I expect no less. What we see in Kenya today should not be taken as “one of those youthful protests.” Those guys mean business. Kenya is burdened by alarming public debt; so is Nigeria. In fact, most indices considered, Kenya is a kindergarten case in comparison to Nigeria.

The Proshare Bank Strength Index evaluates banks using a pool of financial metrics based on audited financial statements for the Financial Year 2023. In the report, it named Access Corp, Zenith Bank, FBNH, ETI, UBA, and GTCO as Tier-1 banks in 2024, reinforcing the Afrinvest-inspired concept of FUGAZE. In early June, the Central Bank of Nigeria revealed that banks had started to submit their recapitalisation plans. However, the Proshare report read in part, “Policymakers have associated big banks with larger economies and faster-growing gross domestic products, but the assumption is unproven. However, between 2000 and 2005, bank equity sizes grew over ten times or by 1,150% from N2bn to N25bn.

India’s deadliest stampede in over a decade left 121 people dead at a vastly overcrowded Hindu religious gathering. A police report said more than 250,000 people attended the event in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh state, more than triple the 80,000 organisers had permission for. Chaitra V., divisional commissioner of Aligarh city in Uttar Pradesh state, initially said panic began when “attendees were exiting the venue when a dust storm blinded their vision, leading to a melee”. Religious gatherings in India have a grim track record of deadly incidents caused by poor crowd management and safety lapses. In 2008, 224 pilgrims were killed and more than 400 were injured in a stampede at a hilltop temple in the northern city of Jodhpur.

But chances are the reason you’re cold is not only due to a polar air mass sweeping the country, but because millions of Australian homes aren’t well insulated. Experts estimate more than 70% of Australian homes were built before 2003. Australian homes are so poorly insulated that some experts compare them to tents. Research has found that Australia’s energy standards are about 55% worse than comparable countries and climate zones. Many homes will have been renovated since 2003, but experts say most renovations will still be below the current new housing standards.
