Anonymous trainee doctors are reportedly organising on Reddit to seek election to senior positions in the BMA in order to steer the organisation to major strike actions. Junior doctors are angry over their pay and conditions as well as the amount of student debt they face after completing six years at medical school. Under the plan, pro-strike candidates will be nominated to stand for election with a concerted effort to gain support for radical action. Junior doctors complain that their pay has fallen by 30 per cent during the past decade's austerity measures. The BMA plans to ballot its members on industrial action after it rejected Mr Javid's plans for general practice.

The suggestion of 1,200 calories a day is from the 1920sThe concept of 1,200 calories a day for weight loss has been around since the 1920s, due to a book called Diet and Health: With a Key to the Calories that was widely read by Americans. “A lot of my clients have tried 1,200 calories in the past,” said Jamie Nadeau, a registered dietician who focuses on helping people repair their relationship with food. “For most women, you need more than 1,200 calories just for your normal survival functions in your body,” Nadeau said. 1,200 calories a day is similar to the Minnesota Starvation ExperimentGiven the average daily energy needs for a woman is 2,400 calories a day, this would make a 1,200 calorie a day diet on par with the Minnesota Starvation Experiment, which was conducted in 1944 to try and establish the best way to re-feed people suffering from starvation. “What I hear the most about 1,200 calories a day is that even if they are able to stick to it, they are miserable,” Nadeau said.

Palm whiffsYesterday’s Palm launch was …some earbuds. With TWS earbuds now truly the game that everyone is in (YouTube), Palm launched some Palm Buds Pro earbuds for $99, though they’ll be $129 if you don’t preorder. This all comes three years since the last phone it launched: the super tiny Palm Phone that started as a companion device and eventually became a standalone smol boi designed for non-primary phone use. Three years later, with the launch of the Palm Buds Pro, the Palm Phone has been removed from the site. Anyway, this doesn’t matter at all: it’s just TCL milking the old gold brand name of Palm to flog some earbuds, which is normal business behavior.
