Game Boy and GB Color games could come to Nintendo Switch Online this month
TL;DR A rumored Nintendo Switch Online update could allow you to play Game Boy games on Switch. Allegedly, the service would include a small selection of Game Boy and Game Boy Color titles. As of today, your Nintendo Switch Online subscription gives you unlimited access to over 100 NES and SNES games. In response to this, Nintendo Life confirmed with its own sources that Game Boy and Game Boy Color games are likely coming to the Switch very soon — possibly even this month. The Game Boy Color launched in 1998 and saw nearly 1,000 games in its lifetime (it also played most of the original Game Boy games).

New South African variant could enter Sri Lanka
BY Buddhika SamaraweeraThe Ministry of Health said that there is a possibility of any variant of the Covid-19 virus, including the new Mu (C.1.2) Covid-19 variant of South African origin, which has also been identified in several other countries, entering Sri Lanka. I know that the variant which was previously discovered in South Africa did not enter Sri Lanka, but no variant can be stopped from entering the country because the variants of this virus are not shown separately,” he said. “People can be protected from any variants if the prescribed health guidelines are followed, as no variants have been found that can transcend the following of proper health guidelines,” he said. Over half of the Mu variant sequences have 14 mutations, whilst additional changes have also been observed in some of the sequences, he added. According to him, the researchers have found evidence to suggest that the Mu variant is still mutating and evolving as it continues to infect more people worldwide.

China assures utmost help to overcome economic, COVID challenges in Sri Lanka
Chairman of the National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee Li Zhanshu assured Speaker of Sri Lanka Parliament Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena that the Chinese government will do its utmost to help overcome the economic challenge as well as the COVID challenge in Sri Lanka. It was the first diplomatic discussion held by the Parliament of China since the COVID pandemic. Accepting the invitation, the Speaker of China said that they would visit Sri Lanka as soon as the COVID situation is resolved. China will provide investment facilities for other investments, including the Colombo Port City Project Chairman of the National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee Li Zhanshu stated. Yang Zhenwu, Secretary-General of the NPC Standing Committee, Li Fei, Chairman of the NPC Constitution and Law Committee.

New plan to resolve exam delays
However, the Ceylon Teachers Union (CTU) President Priyantha Fernando told The Morning that teachers participate in examination duties only as an additional duty. “Teachers who participate in examination duties get very little pay. We are also not duty-bound to engage in examination duties,” he claimed. “The written tests for the O/L Examination ended in March this year. If the Examinations Department and the Education Ministry really wanted to conduct the practical examinations and release the O/L results soon, they should have held the practical examinations within those three months,” he added.

However, Fernando explained that out of nearly 240,000 teachers across the country, about 230,000 are currently supporting the ongoing trade union actions. “Teachers in private schools are not involved in the trade union actions. Usually, in every sector, there are some individuals who do not support trade union actions. Similarly, when considering our trade union actions, there are about 5% who continue to teach without supporting it. If the teachers in the Northern Province are teaching, we thank them for that.”Nearly 30 teachers and principals trade unions had decided to withdraw from all teaching activities from 12 July in protest over the lack of a solution to the teacher-principal salary anomaly issue.

Thailand donates medical equipment to Sri Lanka to support COVID treatment
Foreign Secretary Jayanath Colombage accepted a donation of medical equipment today (Sep. 01) from Chargé d’ affaires of the Royal Thai Embassy in Colombo Tayatat Kanjanapipatkul at a symbolic ceremony at the Foreign Ministry. The donation was thereafter handed over to Secretary of the State Ministry of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals Dr. R.M.S.K. The donation comprises 30 oxygen concentrators, 02 ventilators, 108 oxygen tanks, 62 regulators/cannulae sets, 160 pulse oximeters and 150 personal protective equipment (PPE) sets. This donation includes contributions from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, Somdet Phra Nyanasamvara Somdet Phra Sangharaj Wat, Bovoranives Vihara Foundation, Sri Lanka Association of Thailand, Thai-Sri Lanka Chamber of Commerce and the Royal Thai Embassy in Colombo. 40 cops disciplined for getting paralytic at the Paralympics
The officers were members of a special security unit from Yamanashi Prefecture sent to Tokyo to provide back-up to local police at venues and to control traffic during the Games. Total COVID-19 recoveries up by 2,060
September 1, 2021 03:00 pmAnother 2,060 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals and treatment centres as they have recovered from the virus infection, the Ministry of Health stated. This brings the total number of recoveries reported in the country to 376,216. Sri Lanka has confirmed as many as 440,302 cases of COVID-19 to date. According to Epidemiology Unit’s data, 54,901 virus-infected patients are currently under medical care. Meanwhile, the death from novel coronavirus now stands at 9,185.
