Deputy Commissioner of Police Simardeep Singh disclosed that the accused stayed around the washroom after the attack and helped the staff who took the child’s body to the hospital. The officer said it was yet to be ascertained whether his police verification was done at the time of hiring. No criminal recordMr. Singh said that there was no evidence of Kumar’s involvement in any other criminal case, but he would be taken in police remand for further investigation into the case. According to the officer, circumstantial evidence, CCTV footage and statements of two students indicated Kumar’s involvement in the case.
