In 2022, when online scam operations began expanding rapidly in the region, Mr Yang’s name began appearing in major online fraud cases in China, allegedly causing widespread losses to Chinese victims. Police said the scam affected more than 600 victims, with total losses estimated at nearly 900 million baht. He reportedly evaded arrest by international, Chinese and Philippine authorities for years.
