A two-week complete lockdown in the northeastern state of Manipur came into effect at 2 pm on Thursday as the COVID-19 tally in Manipur crossed the 2,000-mark. Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh had on Wednesday announced a total lockdown of seven days, which he said could be extended to another week. Manipur has recorded a total of 2060 coronavirus cases with zero death toll. Earlier on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the water supply project in Manipur through a video conference. The Prime Minister said the Manipur government made all the necessary arrangements during the lockdown and special arrangements for the return of migrants.
