A total 20 projects across the globe were shortlisted for the Award with the winner set to earn $1 million in prize money. Both projects show how architecture can be adapted to the needs of individuals.”The “Loom Shed” combines traditional Bangladeshi residential architecture with contemporary elements. The Aga Khan Award for Architecture was established by the Aga Khan in 1977 to identify and encourage building concepts that successfully address the needs and aspirations of communities in which Muslims have a significant presence. So far, 116 projects have received the award and more than 9,000 building projects have been documented.
