The United Nations Support Mission in Libya announced on Monday that more than 300 Libyan children, accompanied by their families, gathered at the Scouts Theater in Tripoli to mark the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action, under the slogan “Invest in Peace, Invest in Mine Action.”The event, held on Saturday, was jointly organized by UNSMIL’s Mine Action Service, the Libyan Mine Action Center, the General Movement of Scouts and Guides, the Libyan Peace Organization, and the Libyan Red Crescent, according to the mission’s Facebook post. The gathering aimed to raise awareness among children and their families about the dangers posed by landmines, explosive remnants of war, and unsafe munitions. The event featured a full day of interactive activities, including games, drawing sessions, awareness programs, songs, and theatrical performances, all centered around the values of peace, safety, and protection. Children were also given space to express their hopes for a safer future, with their artwork and performances reflecting themes of peace, resilience, and every child’s right to grow up in a safe environment, the mission said.
