Police management in the Nyanga policing cluster have expressed their gratitude to the area’s officers for their diligence and passion in serving the community during operations last week. Community structures, such as the neighbourhood watches and street committees, have also ensured the safety of police officers within the various policing precincts,” says Manenberg police spokesperson Captain Ian Bennett. During the operations 338 people were arrested for various crimes, ranging from possession of drugs and illegal firearms to crimes against women and children. The Nyanga cluster precinct police officers were successful in combating criminal and gang activities, Bennett says. Four illegal and unlicenced firearms were confiscated, and five people arrested for having them.
