The Bridges Division noted in its proposal that the proposed bridge will play a major role to directly connect island-district Bhola with Dhaka via Padma Bridge, which is scheduled to be completed by 2021. “Once the Bhola Bridge is built, it’ll make the Padma Bridge more effective to create further connectivity with the capital,” it mentioned. The government thinks that if the proposed Bhola Bridge is constructed, the benefits of the Padma Bridge will increase further, it said.
