4 provinces bid to host King's Cup

4 provinces bid to host King's CupFour provinces have submitted bids to host the 52nd King's Cup football tournament in November, announced the Football Association of Thailand (FAT). The four bidders include Sri Sa Ket (Sri Sa Ket Main Stadium), Khon Kaen (Khon Kaen Provincial Administrative Organisation Stadium), Ayutthaya (Ayutthaya Main Stadium), and Rayong (Rayong Main Stadium and PTT Rayong Stadium). Staging the King's Cup tournament outside of Bangkok is part of the FAT's strategy to have the Thai national team play in other regions of the country to boost the sport's popularity, stimulate the economy and tourism, and foster local pride. The selection committee will choose a host province that is well-prepared in all aspects, including stadium standards, quality of competition, local football popularity, and the potential to promote the economy and tourism. The 52nd King's Cup tournament is scheduled to take place during the Fifa Day break, from Nov 9-17, in a four-team tournament format.
