A fire at Hidabo village on Lamu Island destroyed 12 makuti houses on Tuesday, leaving more than 60 people affected. Several people were left homeless but none was injured in a fire at Kibera slum, Nairobi, on Tuesday. In April, three houses went up in flames and property of unknown value was destroyed after a fire that started at one of the homes. Police said the cause of the fire at Gatwekera area, which spread from one house, had not been established. No one was injured in the incident but nothing was salvaged as strong winds fanned the flames.
