Seven final-year students of Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore, have been suspended for sweating after a video of first-year students being stripped, beaten and tortured went viral on social media. The video, reportedly filmed on October 9, shows the young students being forced to walk around campus in underwear as instructed by the older students. The college also received an anonymous email with complaints of sweating. In response to an inquiry from Indianexpress.com about the incident, the college management said in an email, “The college was receiving an anonymous email containing complaints of sweating. College authorities immediately formed an investigation committee to look into the matter along with Hand in hand with the Foundation’s Anti-Falling Committee.
