Four days of activities are planned for 2018 as the main commemoration of the 375th anniversary of the first encounter between Maori and Dutch explorer Abel Janszoon Tasman. First Encounter 375 Planning Group convener Penny Griffith said the four-day programme, to be held at Golden Bay from December 16 to 19, would be open to the public. VIRGINIA WOOLF/STUFF Dutch ambassador Robert Zaagman is scheduled to attend the main commemoration of the 375th anniversary. The First Encounter 375 Planning Group had lodged an application with TDC for Special Grants funding.
