As the Supreme Court of Liberia authorizes the National Elections Commission (NEC) to proceed with the holding of the December 26, 2017 (Next Tuesday) runoff election between the Unity Party (UP) of Vice President Joseph N. Boakai and the Coalition for Democratic Change of Senator George Manneh Weah, immediately after Christmas, the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) today drew huge crowds at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex for the launch of what partisans of the CDC called ‘Victory Rally’. As early as 10am today supporters and well-wishers of the CDC trooped to the SKD Sports Complex in readiness of the rally, as both Senator Weah in a very long convoy drove from his residence located at the Rehab Road in the district of Paynsville via the Somalia Drive heading to the Sports Complex, while his running mate, Senator Jewel Howard Taylor from the Bushrod Island via central Monrovia to the complex completely locked up the city as hundreds queued in the streets to take a glance at the candidates. According to a GNN Liberia reporter who was at the SKD awaiting the arrival of Senators Weah and Taylor crowd over 150,000 persons also included nonpartisans of CDC were on hand to receive the CDC presidential and vice presidential candidates at the Complex.
