PUTRAJAYA: AirAsia X Flight D7 207, which was diverted to Brisbane due to a suspected bird strike incident in Gold Coast, Australia yesterday, is expected to arrive at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2) at 12.40 midnight today. In a statement today, AirAsia X said the passengers will be transferred to recovery flight D7 689, which is scheduled to depart for Kuala Lumpur from Brisbane Airport at 6.10pm today. Flight D7 207 was diverted after experiencing a suspected bird strike to its starboard engine shortly after take-off at Gold Coast Airport at 10.20pm local time yesterday, the airline said yesterday. "The flight with 345 passengers and 14 crew was diverted to Brisbane and landed safely at 11:33pm," the low-cost carrier said. AirAsia X also said the passengers on board the flight were attended by the ground staff upon landing and were provided with all necessary assistance, including hotel accommodation in Brisbane.
