Al Ahly legend Walid Salah El-Din is worried about the Reds if they face South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League quarter-finals. Despite a dramatic 2-2 draw with Sudanese side Al-Merrikh, Al Ahly managed to reach the CAF Champions League quarter-finals as the second-placed team alongside leaders Simba. “The current Al Ahly generation is not as fierce away from home as ours or the generation of Barakat and Meteb,” Salah El-Din said. “I am not worried about Al Ahly if they face a North African side, Esperance, Wydad Casablance, or any other team. It’s worth mentioning that Al Ahly were drawn against Mamelodi Sundowns in the last two versions of the CAF Champions League, with the Reds most famously suffering a 5-0 defeat in 2019.
