Recorded crime overall also increased by two per cent in just one year. There was a five per cent increase of rape and attempted rapes reported on last year, up from 2,455 to 2,567 crimes. Edinburgh saw a seven per cent increase, up from 218 to 234. In total, there were 14,834 sexual crimes recorded, down from 14,880 in the previous year. This is a 50 per cent increase from June 2019.
