President Uhuru Kenyatta was reportedly angered by the outcome of the by-elections in Juja and Rurii Ward. The Rurii by-election in Nyandarua county was a fierce two-horse race between Jubilee Party's candidate Peter Thinji and Ruto-leaning aspirant Francis Muraya. The Juja by-election, on the other hand, pitted Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria's candidate George Koimburi of the People's Empowerment Party (PEP) against Jubilee's Susan Waititu Wakapee, and nine other candidates. Nyeri Town Member of Parliament Ngunjiri Wambugu on the other hand opined the three by-elections losses was a blessing for the Jubilee Party. "There are two ingredients to winning a by-election, choosing the right candidate and ensuring your voters turn out to vote.
