Huawei and Xiaomi’s double-digit shipments growth also pressured the market share of Apple’s, IDC data showed. Counterpoint said Apple’s market share by sales was 15.5% in the second quarter, down from 15.7% in the first quarter and 17.4% a year ago. Overall smartphone sales in China rose 6% from a year earlier, which “confirms the recovery theme emerging in the world’s largest smartphone market,” it added. Canalys estimated that smartphone shipments in China rose 10% from a year ago to more than 70 million units in the second quarter, while IDC estimated shipments expanded by 8.9% to 71.6 million units.
