Ravi Ashwin, the India all-rounder, says that he is fulfilling a lifetime ambition in playing county cricket with Worcestershire. The New Road faithful got their first sight of Ashwin, who has taken 292 Test wickets, with ball in hand yesterday against Gloucestershire when he claimed three for 94 from 29 overs. Ashwin’s signing is quite a coup for Steve Rhodes’s promotion-chasing side but Ashwin admitted that he jumped at the chance to play in the Specsavers County Championship second division before India tour England next summer. “Next year’s Test tour is part of the reason I am here but it is not the sole reason.
