CORTINA D’AMPEZZO, Italy — Lindsey Vonn was always going to suck up a lot of the oxygen in the first days of the Milan Cortina Olympics. Vonn heads to Sunday’s Olympic downhill as a medal contender — some way, somehow — despite a torn ACL in her left knee. Her coach, Aksel Lund Svindal — like Vonn, an Olympic downhill champion — was watching the crash. She grabbed her head as Vonn lost balance momentarily in one of the final jumps and then landed awkwardly. For nearly 20 years, Vonn has been just about the biggest name in the sport.
