B.C. government recognizes 56 historic Japanese-Canadian places


Sites from across British Columbia have been officially recognized by the provincial government as historic Japanese-Canadian places. The 56 sites include language schools and churches but also former work camps and internment centres. The Pitt Meadows Japanese-Canadian meeting hall was once the centre of the thriving Japanese Canadian community in Pitt Meadows but after the end of the Second World War, none of the community returned and no documents or objects remain.
