The incident occurred in a residence in the Clashmore area in the early hours of this morning. The baby, aged three months old, was treated by gardaí and paramedics at the scene until she was taken to Cork University Hospital. Locals in the area have expressed their shock and sadness after the news spread through the small town this morning. Meanwhile, a forensic examination of the house is taking place.
