Minister Suchart Chomklin has issued an order after the carcass of a headless male dugong, fully grown, approximately 2.20 metres long (excluding the head) and weighing approximately 120 kilogrammes was found. Its tail was tied with a rope knot to an underwater rock near Koh Yao Noi, Phangnga province,Mr Suchart said the investigation is urgent and that the culprits must be found. In 2026, two dugongs were stranded, one of which had its tusks/head illegally removed after death, according to the ministry.
