Big Four funds shrink as Covid-19 hits Uhuru's priorities

Funding for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Big Four development agenda has continued to shrink following prioritisation of Covid-19 response. The allocation is a slight increase from the Sh128.3 billion allocated to the projects in the current financial year. The current provision is although a steep fall if compared with the Sh450.9 billion allocated to drivers and enablers of the development plan in 2019-20. Of the said Sh47.7 billion Big Four budget for health, Sh45.6 billion will go to the Ministry of Health while Sh2.1 billion will go towards enablers. Treasury has, however, increased allocation for food security by Sh2 billion in the proposed Sh54.2 billion budget.
