Everywhere you look there are blondes with big bosoms in cowboy boots. Some are women, some are men, most are Irish – but they’re all Dolly Parton at heart. These fans have gathered for Dolly Day, a celebration of country music’s beloved daughter, in a town called Listowel in Kerry in Ireland, roughly 6 000km away from the real Dolly’s home in Nashville, Tennessee. The sea of blonde wigs, guitars and checked shirts was out in force for a good cause: they set a Guinness World Record for the biggest number of Dolly lookalikes and raised money for two cancer charities in the process.
