Ortiz killed Melissa Ramirez, 29, on Sept. 3, he told authorities, according to an arrest affidavit. On Saturday, authorities released the name of a third victim — Humberto Ortiz, 28, whom authorities referred to as a transgender woman. Ortiz told authorities that he killed her late Friday or Saturday. Ortiz had pulled a gun on her after she mentioned Ramirez, whom she knew, the woman told investigators. An alert was issued to officers to be on the lookout for Ortiz, Garza said.
