The accusation came from the EU's chief negotiator Michel Barnier, as the latest round of talks broke up early this week. Officials have until December 31 to secure a trade pact, with Britain due to leave the EU single market and customs union in less than six months. Britain's chief negotiator David Frost said the latest talks “underlined the significant differences that still remain between us on a number of important issues”. Australia does not have a comprehensive trade agreement with the EU. Much of EU-Australia trade follows default World Trade Organisation rules, though specific agreements are in place for certain goods.
