Britons evacuated from China over coronavirus fears face military quarantine

Britons stranded in the epicentre of a coronavirus outbreak will not be allowed home unless they agree to be quarantined in a military base for two weeks. About 200 British people in and around the locked-down city of Wuhan will be forced to sign contracts agreeing to 14 days of isolation before they are allowed to evacuate on a UK government plane. It comes as British Airways cancelled all flights to and from mainland China with immediate effect and it was announced that the coronavirus infection rate has overtaken the Sars outbreak. As the death toll rose to 132, confirmed cases jumped by a third in a day to 5,974, overtaking the number of Sars cases recorded in the 2002-2003 epidemic. With World Health Organisation
