New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday reserved its verdict on the validity of M. Nageswara Rao's appointment as interim director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The court was hearing a challenge to the appointment of Nageswara Rao as interim director of the agency. Justice Arun Mishra observed that an interim director should not be allowed to continue for so long because the position was too important to be handled in an adhoc manner. Within hours of resuming as interim CBI director, Nageswara Rao reversed all transfer orders issued by Verma earlier. Similar disclosure was sought on the website, mandating minutes of meetings of the screening/search committee for the CBI director’s appointment.
