CBSL requests banks to provide relief for credit customers


The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) has instructed licensed commercial banks and licensed specialized banks to provide relief to credit customers of banks due to the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Central Bank of Sri Lanka stated that the notification was issued taking into consideration the difficulties faced by the credit customers in the current situation. Accordingly, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka has issued a series of special instructions to the relevant banks regarding the relief to be provided. The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has announced that all collections for non-performing loans will be postponed until August 31. However, even after June 1, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka has instructed licensed banks to accept any request made late for an acceptable reason.
