A short-term spending bill to avert a government shutdown after Friday could include CHIP funding. "If Congress does not renew federal funding, CHP+ (Colorado's CHIP program) in Colorado will end on January 31, 2018. Simply put, the agency is spending every available cent to keep CHIP children covered as long as possible. Colorado is working on how to prioritize the CHIP cases that are most urgent and cover their CHIP insurance. Hatch invoked the bipartisan nature of CHIP on the floor just last week, reminding the Senate that "nobody believes in the CHIP program more than I. I invented it."
