The Manipur government has imposed a ten-day curfew in Imphal to curb the COVID-19 virus from Sunday (July 18). To make sure the rules are being followed appropriately, security personnel are deployed in the city at various locations. The state government imposed a strict curfew to break the chain of transmission amid the ever surging cases of COVID-19 infections. Manipur saw a surge in COVID-19 cases due to the Delta variant and was forced to announce the lockdown on Friday. Responding to the Chief Minister’s call to observe ‘strict curfew’, even shops in the localities and villages had shut their shutters on day one of the curfew.
