The Palm Springs, Calif. City Council has taken steps to create a pilot program that would provide a Universal Basic Income to transgender and non-binary residents. The two groups are currently actively working to develop the pilot program and will seek to apply for $35 million in public funding for a universal basic income program later this year. Basic income plans have been advocated by lawmakers ranging from AOC to Mitt Romney in various circumstances in the past.
