Canadian Beckie Scott, an Olympic champion and one of the most high-profile athletes in the anti-doping movement, stepped down from a key review panel a day after that panel surprisingly recommended reinstatement of Russia’s anti-doping agency. Scott told The Associated Press she left her position on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s six-person compliance review committee. Her departure came after WADA made changes to some of the most stringent requirements to bring Russia’s anti-doping body back into compliance following a nearly three-year suspension. Canadian Beckie Scott stepped down from a key committee at the World Anti-Doping Agency, which took a softer stance on Russian doping this past week. In response, WADA released six letters Saturday detailing the negotiations among the review committee, WADA leaders, including Olivier Niggli and Craig Reedie, and Russian minister of sport Pavel Kolobkov.
