Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi has blamed his recent backlash from some leaders in the county to cartels after public land and county coffers. Speaking at Mang’u area in Gatundu North while issuing bursary cheques on Thursday, Wamatangi said he declined to have the land converted into private properties and hence the heightened onslaught against his administration. “I sealed all loopholes where public funds were being stolen and that’s why there’s this noise and everyone fighting me. I just sealed the loopholes where unscrupulous individuals used to siphon cash and managed to save the money,” he said. The governor said the cartels have been the reason why Kiambu residents have not enjoyed the fruits of devolution 10 years down the line.
