Chelsea Football Club is reportedly closing in on the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino as their new head coach. The former Tottenham manager has emerged as the favourite for the role, with growing confidence said to be felt among officials that the talks will end in a successful conclusion. Pochettino has held positive discussions with Chelsea’s owners, with further meetings taking place on Monday. Pochettino, who has links with Tottenham, wouldn’t have his previous employers get in the way of him joining Chelsea. If Pochettino is appointed, one of his biggest immediate challenges will be dealing with Chelsea’s large squad.
